Tag, you're it
Sally Harrell Custom Pet Tags is a new company that provides beautiful handcrafted tags in nickel silver. Harrell offers a choice of six unusual fonts in which she can hand etch your pet's name on one side. She hand-stamps contact information on the back. The nickel silver is corrosion resistant and twice as thick as typical ID tags. Harrell is a metalsmith and life-long dog lover.
The tags are available in two sizes: one inch, and .75 inch. I recommend the larger tag because you can't get much information on the back of the .75 inch one (seven characters per line vs. 12). While these cost more than the typical tags, at $40 for the one inch tag ($37 for the .75 inch) they are still far less expensive than other hand-made ones.

I saw an ad for these in BARK magazine about a year ago and decided to order one for Polo, my rhodesian ridgeback. The tag looks great and it makes less jingling noise than the brass tags they sell at pet stores. My dog is microchipped so I had her put the 800 number to the microchip registry and the microchip number on there, as well as my name. That way if he's found by someone other than a shelter, they can check his tag and have my current contact info without me having to change his tag if I move or switch phone/work numbers. Sally is great and very helpful and accomodating. I've bought one for a friend's dog since then and will buy another one when I get a second dog. I highly recommend them!

This way if he's found by someone other than a shelter, they can call the number and get my current contact info, and he only really needs one tag for life. I've gotten one for my friend's dog as a gift since then and when I get a second dog I will definitely get one for it. Sally is great, I highly recommend her!
